5 Questions to Ask Any Marketing Agency Before You Sign

Most people hire a marketing agency the same way they hire almost anyone else. They read a few reviews, have one call, and sign. A few direct questions upfront save a lot of frustration later.

Do you charge a percentage of my ad spend, or a flat fee?

This is the single biggest question, since it tells you whether your agency's incentive lines up with yours or works against it.

What exactly do I own if I leave?

Ad accounts, website, content, and data should belong to you, not disappear the day you switch agencies.

How fast do you actually respond to my customers' inquiries?

Not how fast the agency responds to you, how fast a real customer's call or form fill gets answered.

What does my monthly report actually measure?

Leads and revenue, or clicks and impressions. The difference matters more than it sounds.

Can I see a real example of your reporting before I sign?

A reasonable agency will show you one without hesitation.

None of these questions are aggressive or unusual to ask. Any agency worth hiring will answer them plainly.
